- I am going to be putting together an e-mail list that focusses on
- interprocess communication (IPC), especially across networks of
- computers. This is primarily geared towards software developers who
- need to implement IPC in their applications. The focus is mainly Unix
- and Windows machines, but other OS's are welcome as well.
-
- Topics of discussion can include:
- - Message-oriented middleware
- - Socket programming
- - Shared memory
- - Communication across heterogeneous networks
- - RPCs
- - Using email for message delivery
- - Usage of various protocols, such as TCP/IP, DECnet, and IPX
- - Interprocess communication across nodes of the Internet
- - Broadcast, multicast, and publish/subscribe message delivery
-
- Feel free to suggest additional specific topics (you can send a
- provate email to me or post a follow-up to this post) as long as the
- focus generally revolves around interprocess communication.
-
- If you are aware of an existing list that covers this material, even
- if it provides a broader or narrower scope than what is described
- above, please let me know.
-
- And if you are interested in signing up, send me a private email and
- I'll pre-register you for the list before it goes online.
-
- Regards,
- Don
